Oxbow Bass Hatching Season Winds Down…. and It’s Looking Strong

Edge’s Aquatic Services

As the 2025 spawning season wraps up, we’re excited to share that our first batch of F1 Largemouth Oxbow Bass is off to a phenomenal start.

At just 21 days old, these young Oxbows are already showing their trademark broken-bar patterns and putting on impressive size. They’re measuring in at 1⅝ to 1¾ inches and packing on weight fast.

Here’s their growth breakdown so far:
• Week 1: ½ inch
• Week 2: 1⅛ inches
• Week 3: 1⅝ – 1¾ inches

These bass are thick-bodied, fast-growing, and exceptionally healthy — everything we aim for in our hatching process. They’re nearly ready for their next chapter in ponds across the region.

We’re proud of this year’s start and grateful to everyone following along. More updates to come as the season continues.

Why would you want Oxbow Bass in your pond?

F1 Largemouth Oxbow Bass are an ideal choice for pond owners looking to grow large, fast-growing fish with aggressive feeding habits. Bred from two distinct genetic lines, they outperform pure strains in growth, strength, and resilience. Their unique broken-bar patterns make them visually striking, while their natural hunting instinct helps maintain a balanced forage fish population. Whether you’re managing for better angling, a healthier ecosystem, or impressive fish size, these bass deliver strong results and lasting impact.

More from the news

As we begin the 2026 Oxbow Bass season, we’re excited to announce that spawning is officially underway here at Edge’s Aquatic Services. Each year brings a fresh start, new energy, and the opportunity to continue refining what we do best... producing high-quality fish that perform exceptionally well in ponds across Georgia and the Southeast. The start of spawning season is always one of the most rewarding and trying times of the year for our team. It marks the beginning of a carefully managed process that requires attention to detail, experience, and a strong commitment to quality. From broodstock selection to hatchery conditions, every step plays a role in shaping the fish that will eventually make their way into your ponds. At the center of our hard work is the F1 Largemouth Oxbow Bass, Georgia’s premier choice for pond stocking. This first-generation hybrid is produced by crossing Florida-strain largemouth bass with northern largemouth bass, combining the best traits of both genetic lines. The result is a fish that offers rapid growth potential, aggressive feeding behavior, and the adaptability needed to thrive in a variety of pond environments.
